Secondary 2 Tuition
The year that decides upper secondary subject combinations
What Secondary 2 tuition at EduZ covers
Secondary 2 ends with subject selection for upper secondary: whether a student takes Additional Maths, Pure Physics and Chemistry or Combined Science, and at which band. Schools base that offer on Sec 2 results, so this is the year to close gaps.
Our Sec 2 Maths lessons cover linear graphs, simultaneous equations, expansion and factorisation, quadratic equations and graphs, direct and inverse proportion, congruence and similarity, Pythagoras' theorem, trigonometry, mensuration and statistics. Science completes the lower secondary syllabus and starts building the separate physics, chemistry and biology thinking that upper secondary needs. English continues summary, comprehension, situational and continuous writing and oral. Chinese covers composition, comprehension and oral.
Lessons are 1.5 to 2 hours in a small group. We also publish free Sec 2 Maths practice questions by topic.

English
S2 English focuses on integration of more general knowledge while improving students’ vocabulary for added sophistication and summarising skills.
Content & Language Mastery
Written passages and in-class discussion continues to cover a wide range of current affairs topics to help students develop a global perspective and build content for use in their essay. Students attempt papers of diverse topics to apply discussed ideas. Grammatical exercises are also of priority to build a strong foundation and avoid loss of marks.
Skills and Techniques
Students’ confidence and writing skills are honed with practices to the various essay types. Students are also trained in their time management skills through practice tests in simulated exam conditions.

Math
S2 Math focuses on building upon S1 Math foundation while introducing new topics in geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. S2 Math programme aims to equip students with the necessary skillset and knowledge to in preparation for upper secondary Math.
Content Mastery
S2 Math revisits and introduces more complex concepts in topics like ratio, algebra, functions, graphs and inequalities, data analysis. New topics this year includes understanding congruence, similarity, the Pythagoras theorem, introduction to trigonometry and also probability.
Skills and Techniques
Students are taught to identify question requirement and the appropriate method to use. Questions tends to be more application-based. Students are expected to build a habit to check their own answers to minimise careless errors and loss of marks. Revision will be focused on mastering all the lower secondary math topics to prepare students for their final exams.

Schools use the Sec 2 end-of-year results to offer each student their upper secondary subjects. Strong Maths results open the door to Additional Maths, and strong Science results to Pure Physics, Chemistry or Biology, which in turn matter for JC and polytechnic courses. Our Sec 2 lessons put extra weight on the algebra and science topics those decisions rest on.
If your child is comfortable with Sec 2 algebra and wants to keep science, engineering, business or computing courses open after secondary school, yes. A Maths is a prerequisite for H2 Maths in JC and helps with many polytechnic diplomas. Our tutors can give you a frank view after a term of lessons.
Secondary classes are $220 to $250 for four lessons of 1.5 to 2 hours each, depending on the subject. There is no registration fee and no material fee. If your child takes two subjects you get $20 off, and three or more subjects get $60 off. The full table is on the fees page.
Classes run on weekday afternoons and evenings (2pm to 10pm) and on weekends (9am to 7pm). The timetable differs by centre and changes as classes fill, so we do not publish it. Message the centre on WhatsApp with your child's level and subject and we will send you the current slots.
Yes. A free trial lesson is available to new students who book one in advance. Book the trial online or message the centre on WhatsApp, and we will place your child in the right class for their level and subject.
