Secondary 3 Tuition

The start of the two-year O Level syllabus

What Secondary 3 tuition at EduZ covers

Secondary 3 is the first year of the upper secondary syllabus, and schools teach it fast because Secondary 4 is mostly revision. New subjects start from scratch: Additional Maths, Pure Physics, Pure Chemistry or Combined Science. Students who keep up in Sec 3 have a far easier Sec 4.

We teach E Math (indices, quadratic functions, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, statistics), A Math (surds and indices, polynomials, quadratic equations and inequalities, logarithms, trigonometry, coordinate geometry), Pure Physics, Pure Chemistry, Combined Physics and Chemistry, English and Chinese.

Lessons are 1.5 to 2 hours in a small group, with a progress note after each lesson. We also publish free Sec 3 E Math and A Math practice questions by topic.

What each subject covers in Secondary 3

English

S3 English focuses on the expression of students’ ideas and opinion with precision and persuasiveness. It is also crucial to build upon students’ exposure to current affairs even further while focusing on using appropriate tone and style for the relevant papers.

Content & Language Mastery

Written passages and in-class discussion continues to cover a wide range of current affairs topics to help students develop a global perspective and build content for use in their essay. Students continue to attempt papers of diverse topics to apply discussed ideas.

Skills and Techniques

Students are taught to master their reasoning skills for writing mature text, while also summarising ideas and concepts appropriately in a coherent and logical manner. Examination skills such as time management and concise answering techniques will be honed.

Questions parents ask about Secondary 3

Which exam will my Secondary 3 child sit?

This year's Secondary 3 students entered Secondary 1 in 2024 under Full Subject-Based Banding, so they will be the first cohort to sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) in 2027, which replaces the O and N Level exams. Students in Secondary 4 and 5 this year still sit the GCE O or N Levels. The subject syllabuses are the same either way, and our lessons follow them.
