Primary 3 Tuition
The year Science begins and school assessments start to count
What Primary 3 tuition at EduZ covers
Primary 3 brings two changes at once: Science becomes a subject, and school assessments start to carry weight. Many children who coasted through P1 and P2 feel the difference here, especially in Maths word problems and English comprehension.
We teach four subjects at this level. Science lessons introduce the P3 topics (diversity of living and non-living things, materials, the life cycle of plants and animals) and, just as important, how to answer a Science question using the key words markers look for. Maths moves to numbers to 10,000, longer multiplication and division, fractions, area and perimeter, and multi-step word problems solved with models. English adds longer comprehension passages, situational writing and grammar in context. Chinese builds vocabulary and composition skills.
Lessons are 1.5 hours in a small group, with a progress note after each lesson.

Content Mastery
Our P3 Math explores numbers and mathematical equations, while using numbers up to 10 000. Additional topics in area, perimeters, angles and perpendicular and parallel lines are introduced. Statistical components like analysing scales and bar graphs are also taught to prepare students for P4.
Skills and Techniques
Students in P3 will learn skills more specific to answering examinations questions accurately, using the foundation set at primary 1 and 2.

Primary 3 is where Science habits form. The content is not hard, but the answering technique is new: a correct idea in the wrong words loses the mark. Students who learn to write "the leaves are broad so that more light can be trapped for photosynthesis" instead of "big leaves get more sun" in P3 carry that habit through to the PSLE.
With the model method, step by step. Students learn to read the question, decide what is known and unknown, draw the model, then compute. We practise the same problem types the schools test (part-whole, comparison, before-and-after) until students can tell them apart on their own.
Primary classes are $150 to $180 for four lessons of 1.5 hours each, depending on the subject. There is no registration fee and no material fee. If your child takes two subjects you get $20 off, and three or more subjects get $60 off. The full table is on the fees page.
Classes run on weekday afternoons and evenings (2pm to 10pm) and on weekends (9am to 7pm). The timetable differs by centre and changes as classes fill, so we do not publish it. Message the centre on WhatsApp with your child's level and subject and we will send you the current slots.
Yes. A free trial lesson is available to new students who book one in advance. Book the trial online or message the centre on WhatsApp, and we will place your child in the right class for their level and subject.
Try a lesson before you decide
Primary 3 classes run at our four centres in Woodlands, Admiralty, Choa Chu Kang and Yishun. Tell us your child's school and subjects and we will suggest a class, or book a free trial lesson and see how it goes.
