Primary 4 Tuition

Harder content, and the results that decide Primary 5 subject levels

What Primary 4 tuition at EduZ covers

Primary 4 matters more than many parents expect. The end-of-year results decide whether a child takes a subject at the standard or foundation level in Primary 5 and 6, and the content takes a clear step up in every subject.

Our P4 Maths lessons cover factors and multiples, fractions and decimals, angles, symmetry, area and perimeter, tables and graphs, and two-step word problems. Science moves into matter, heat, light, magnets and the human body, with more open-ended questions. English works on comprehension with inference, vocabulary in context, composition structure and oral reading. Chinese focuses on composition, comprehension and oral.

Lessons are 1.5 hours in a small group. We send parents a progress note after every lesson so you can see what to practise at home.

What each subject covers in Primary 4

English

P4 English focuses on preparing students for more time-based assessments while developing critical thinking skills. This will enable them to better transition to upper primary, where the demands lie beyond just demonstrating a basic understanding of the language.

Content & Language Mastery

Our P4 English touches on phrasal verbs, connectors, clauses and common expression. Active discussion are held during lesson time to encourage students to express their personal thoughts and opinions.

Skills and Techniques

Students are taught keyword analysis and inferential skills to tackle comprehension questions. Students are also encouraged to come up with creative stories to capture readers’ attention in composition. Continued refinement in their pronunciation, enunciation, intonation help students gain confidence in their oral skills.

Questions parents ask about Primary 4

Why do Primary 4 results matter?

At the end of P4, schools use the year's results to place each child at the standard or foundation level for each subject in P5. Standard-level subjects lead to the full PSLE paper, so a strong P4 keeps every option open. We give P4 students more exam-style practice in the second half of the year for that reason.

Try a lesson before you decide
